Are you aware that there are now millions of Americans that are living without any health insurance coverage? This is a tragedy in a country of this stature. Private health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies are making enormous amounts of money, while the working class poor are without any way to take their children to see a doctor or buy medicine. This is not only a tragedy but it should also be a crime. Unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done about it at this time. Here are a couple things that you might consider, if you want to buy an inexpensive health insurance policy or need to see a doctor in the near future.

#1. You can buy a health insurance policy and raise the deductible to the maximum allowed. This means that you'll be paying for practically all routine health care out of your own budget, but you would be covered for most of any major medical expenses such as, hospitalization, ambulatory care, physicians costs and more. You can lower it even more by lowering these benefit amounts. I realize that by doing this you would be cutting away a good portion of your benefits. My whole point here is to let you know that many health insurance policies are not standard and can be modified, to a point. Also, having your major medical taken care of can prevent you from bankruptcy, in the event of an emergency that you're unable to pay for.

#2. Don't be afraid to apply for state assistance. I realize that the majority of the families that are having difficulty are in the position where they make too much money to qualify for state assistance, but not enough to buy health insurance. My point here is to not let your pride get in the way if you or one of your family members have a need.

Summary - I honestly wish that there were more ideas that I could share. You may also consider VA hospitals, if you're a veteran, or any other free clinics in your area that helps to provide for families without health insurance.
